He was borned in Feb 8th 1941 at Sri Ganganagar, Bikaner State, India. His birth name was Jagmohan singh, parents name were Sikhs Amar Singh and Bachan Kaur.

Death of Jagjit singh was on October 10th 2011 in Bombay, Maharashtra, India, at Lila Vativati Hospital. He suffered from Hemorrhage on 23rd September, and he was in coma for over two weeks. His body was cremated at Chandanwadi Crematorium in Mumbai.
