Mehdi Hassan Bio 6-23-2012

  Mehdi Hassan was a legendary singer in the ghazal world.  Ghazal is a style of music, and it goes in a semi classical category of Indian music.  Nobody can't sing ghazal as good as he could.  He was a well known ghazal artist in India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh, also known as the king of ghazal.
  His nationality was British India and borned in July 18th 1927, at the village called Luna in Rajasthan.  He was borned into a traditional musicians family, and he claims as a 16th generation musician of the hereditary hailing from the Kalawant Clan.
  He learned to sing from his father Ustad Azeem Khan and his uncle Ustad Ismail Khan, who were both traditional Dhrupad singers.  At the young age Mehdi Hassan performed dhrupad, and Kheyal style, at the concert.
  After the partition of Indian, Mehdi Hassan migrated to Pakistan with his family at the age of 20.  He suffered from severe financial hardships.  He started working at Chichawatni bicycle shop, later on became a car and diesel tractor mechanic.  His passion was always music, and he practiced in daily basis on routine.
  In 1957, he got a opportunity to sing in the Radio Pakistan, as a Thumri singer.  After that people started recognizing him with a musical fraternity.  His passion was also in urdu poems, and therefore he wanted to experiment by singing ghazal.  His very first super hit song was "Jis ne mere dil ko dard diya" and the film was Susral in 1962 .  Later on, he became a most popular ghazal singer in India, Pakistan.  Singer Lata Mangeshkar also gave him a compliment, she said "God talks in his throat."  Hassan's last album was Tera Milana, it was his last duet album, and released by HMV Record company in October 2010.  First he recorded on 2009, then on 2010 Lata Mangeshkar recorded her voice, then later it was mixed together.  Music was composed by Mehdi Hassan, and the lyrics was by a guy name Farhad Shahzad. 
  Death of Mehdi Hassan was on June 13th 2012 in Sindh, Karachi, Pakistan, at Aga Khana University Hostipal.  He was suffering from 12 years long tenure of lung, chest condition, and urinary tract disease.
