Julia Child life story / 11-10-2012

  Julia Child was a popular TV Chef and a author.  Who was specialized in French cooking for mainstream American .  She collaborated on two volume cook book called "Mastering the Art of French Cooking."
  Her birth was on August 15th 1912 in Pasadena, California, as McWilliams.  It was the same date  and year, when the "Titanic" has sank.  Except the month was different from her birth, then the "Titanic" has sank.  Her father's name was John McWilliams Jr, who was a Princeton graduate.  Also a prominent land manager, and the mother of Julia was Julia Carolyn Weston.  Who used to work for Weston, which was a paper company owned by Byron Curtis Weston.
  During the World War II, she joined "Office of Strategic Services," as a typist.  The headquarter was in Washington D.C., and she did that as a volunteer.  It was a newly formed "government intelligence agency," and she moved to the higher position with her education.  Her position played a key role in the communication of top secret documents between U.S. government officials and their intelligence officers.  Later she and her colleagues were sent it to the world, included China, Colombo, and Sri lanka.  Then in Sri lanka she met a guy name Paul who, also worked for "Office Stragertic Services."  In 1946 September, when the World War II was over.  They left for America, and they got married.  
  Paul reassigned in 1948, to the "U.S Information Service" in Paris.  Then Julia and her husband Paul Cushing Child moved to Paris.  While Julia was in France, she joined a cooking school, which was world famous cooking school name "Cordon Bleu."  After doing six month training, included private lesson with Chef Max Bagnard.  She banded with fellow Cardon Bleu, students Simon Beck, Lauisette to form the cooking school.  Name of the school was Le'Ecole De Trois Gourmandes (The School of the Three Gourmands).
  She collaborated on a two volume cook book, but the book was rejected by the first publisher. Then the second publisher eventually excepted, under the title of 'Mastering the Art of French Cooking.Which was released on September 1961, and the book was considered groundbreaking.  The book was remained as best selling cookbook for five years straight, after its publication.  Since the boo 'Mastering the Art of French Cooking," has become a standard guide for culinary community.
  Book of Julia Child was promoted, which was promoted by her.  On the Boston public television station near her Cambridge, Massachusetts, home.  She was displaying her trademark with a forthright manner and she prepared an omelet on air.  Respond of public was enthusiastic, generating 27 letters, and countless phone calls.  After that a station executive remembered her, then she was invited back to tape her own series on cooking for network.  For the show, she used to get paid.  First she used get paid $50, then later it was raised to $200, plus expenses.
  Television success of Julia Child was changing the way American related to food.  It was premiered on WGBH in 1962, then 'The French Chef TV series like 'Mastering the Art of French Cooking.'  She was establishing as a local celebrity.  Later she was syndicated to 96 station throughout America.  Also earned some prestigious awards, included George Foster Peobody Award in 1964.  Then also earned Emmy Award in 1966.  Thoughout 1970, 1980 she had regular morning appearances on ABC morning show called 'Good Morning America.'
  Death of Julia Child was on 2004 from kidney failure.  At her assisted-living Montecito, two days before her birthday.  She was 91 years old, but almost 92.  After her death, last book of her was published.  It was an autobiography of her, and the name of book was 'My Life in France."  Child's great nephew Alex Prud'homme, helped to published  the book.
